Its cousin is the vertical line which runs up and down page. A vertical line is perpendicular to a horizontal line.

In geometry horizontal line means a line that is passing from left to right in a page.
Horizontal lines are parallel to the horizon.
Horizontal lines have great use like keeping together In the same line, helping to establish details in photography etc..
A horizontal line goes across and the vertical line goes upwards.
