define hydrocarbon define type of hydro carbon and example of each
Answers
Answer:
A compound of hydrogen and carbon, such as any of those which are the chief components of petroleum and natural gas.
There are three types of hydrocarbon:-
[i] alkanes [ii] alkenes [iii] alkynes.
[i] alkanes= The alkanes are a homologous series of hydrocarbons. This means that they have similar chemical properties to each other and they have trends in physics properties.
examples= ethene and propene
[ii] alkenes= Alkenes are a homologous series of hydrocarbons that contain a carbon-carbon double bond.
examples= alchohols, plastics and detergents.
[iii] Alkynes are acyclic [branched or unbranched] aliphatic hydrocarbons having one carbon-to-carbon triple bond and, thus, the general molecular formula.
example= diphenylacetylene and 3-hexyne.
