Genetic Drift Defined. Populations of organisms are constantly changing and adapting to their environment. Drastic changes in environmental conditions can sometimes cause drastic changes to the gene pool of the population. Genetic drift is when chance events cause changes in frequencies of alleles in a population.
Definition of natural selection. : a natural process that results in the survival and reproductive success of individuals or groups best adjusted to their environment and that leads to the perpetuation of genetic qualities best suited to that particular environment.
Definition of reproductive isolation. : the inability of a species to breed successfully with related species due to geographical, behavioral, physiological, or genetic barriers or differences.

genetic drift
variation in the relative frequency of different genotypes in a small population, owing to the chance disappearance of particular genes as individuals die or do not reproduce.
natural selection
the process whereby organisms better adapted to their environment tend to survive and produce more offspring.
