                                   Immiscible liquids

  • Immiscible liquids are those which cannot combine to form a uniform homogenous mixture.
  • Immiscible liquids are hence 'insoluble' in each other like kerosene and water, benzene and water etc.
  • The 'individual components' of the immiscible mixture will separate from each other based on their densities.
  • Of the two liquids, the denser component will sink and settle at the bottom, whereas, the lighter one will float on water.
  • Like oil which is lighter will float on water. Immiscible liquids will not "interact with each other" and are capable of independent evaporation while contributing their respective equilibrium vapor pressure.
