in 1839 the indigo revolt slowly started to begin over some parts of India like bengal

bengal is the most important producer of Indigo

farmers in those regions started to realise that they are being forced to grow indigo . as the indigo plant makes the soil infertile farmers are unable to grow the food crops . so the farmers started protesting against the indigo cultivation

thus the indigo commission was made as a result

in 1860 there came a rule that farmer should not forced to grow indigo
