Inertia
Inertia is defined as the tendency of object to continue in rest if the body was in rest or to stay in motion if it was in motion unless and until an external force acts on it.
Inertia is of 3 types:
- Inertia of rest : The tendency of an object to remain at rest until an external force acts on it. For example: Passenger experiences a backward push in a bus , when it starts due to inertia of rest.
- Inertia of motion : The tendency of an object to continue in motion until an external force acts on it. For example: Passenger experiences a forward push in a bus, when moving bus stops due to inertia of motion.
- Inertia of direction : A body moving in a certain direction wants to move like that, until external force acts on it . For example: The mud from the wheels of moving car flies tangentially.
