Inheritance refers to the characters which can be passed on to the children by their parents.
If the changes occur in germ cells of the parents, those can be passed on to their children which often leads to the formation of new species.

Inheritance process: in this process there are two traits dominant and recessive trait. We called dominant as big trait and recessive as a small trait.
Dominant trait show it presence in the next generation/progeny but recessive trait can not show it's presence in the presence of dominant trait. It can only show it presences in the absence of dominant trait. When the traits transfer to the off-springs the don't look similar to their parent. Because after the fusion of gametes there should be chance or can be happen a thing like variation.
