Intercropping is the process in which crops are grown together in a piece of land at the same time, the main aim being to make use of the different nutrients and resources present in the soil that would otherwise not be used, all for maximal production.
Intercropping is different from mixed cropping in that in mixed cropping the emphasis is not on the utilization of the diverse nutrients in the soil while rather it simply involves growing of different types of crops in one piece of land which might even compete for the same nutrients.
