Crop diversification means growing a variety of crops in an area, not just one. If one crop fails this year, the area can still survive. And by growing number of crops that region can meet the increasing demand of cereals, pulses, oilseeds etc.
Mixed cropping means growing two or more crops simultaneously in the same field or growing two or more crops at the same time in the same field. Main aim of mixed cropping is to keep down weeds, pest and disease population and to balance the input of soil nutrients, survive in extreme harsh climate and to increase the overall productivity of soil.
