An ion is an atom or group of atoms where the number of electrons is not equal to the number of protons. When an atom loses or gains electrons, a positive or negative charge is the result. If electrons are gained, the ion is a cation and when electrons are lost, it is an anion.

HIYA MATE...

YOUR ANSWER IS:-

An ion is a charged atom or molecule. ... When an atom is attracted to another atom because it has an unequal number of electrons and protons, the atom is called an ION. If the atom has more electrons than protons, it is a negative ion, or ANION. If it has more protons than electrons,it is a positive ion.

You can learn it in two points:

• an atom or group of atoms that carries a positive or negative electric charge as a result of having lost or gained one or more electrons.

• a charged subatomic particle (such as a free electron)
