Ionic bond are the bond made by the transfer of ions from one compound to the other.
Characteristics:-
1)They are hard solids due to the string inter ionic bond
2) they have high melting and boiling point due to the high energy required to break their bind
3) they are usually soluble i water and insoluble in petrol, kerosene etc.
4) they do not conduct electricity in solid fo but conduct when they are in molten state or in the solution form due to the presence of freely moving ions
