Ionisation enthalpy is the energy required to remove an electron from gaseous atom…. smaller the atom higher is the energy required to remove electron as there is high force of attraction on the outermost  in periodic table,from left to right size of atom decrease so IE increase, down the group size increase so IE decrease.
