DEFINITION

=========

Kinetic energy is the energy possessed by a body in motion.

It can also be define as

Itis energy possessed by an object due to its motion or movement.

Motion is kinetic energy, moving things have kinetic energy.

Some examples are :

____________________

●when you are walking or running , your body is exhibiting kinetic energy.

A bicycle or skateboard in motion possesses kinetic energy.

●Running water has kinetic energy and it is used to run water mills.

●Moving air has kinetic energy and is used to derives windmills and pushes sailing boats.

●A bullet fired from a gun has kinetic energy and can penetrate into a target because of its K.E.

●when a bus speeds up going down a hill, the potential energy of bus converts into K.E. There is not much potential energy at the bottom of the hill, but there is a great amount of kinetic energy.

SI UNIT

======

Its SI unit is Joule.

K.E is given by ½mv², where m is the mass of body and v is its velocity.

Suppose a body of mass 1kg is moving with a velocity of 1m/s , then its K.E will be equal to ½mv² = ½*1*1² J= ½ J.
