In physics, the kinetic energy (KE) of an object is the energy that it possesses due to its motion. It is defined as the work needed to accelerate a body of a given mass from rest to its stated velocity. Having gained this energy during its acceleration, the body maintains this kinetic energy unless its speed changes. The same amount of work is done by the body when decelerating from its current speed to a state of rest.

Kinetic energy refers to a form of energy which an object or particle has due to the motion. On the application of the net force on an object, the object speeds up and consequently generates this energy. This energy is a property of an object or particle which moves.Furthermore, this energy depends not only on the motion but also on the mass.

★The equation for kinetic energy is \boxed{KE=\frac{1}{2}m{v}^{2}}, where m is the mass and v is the velocity. The velocity in the equation is squared which means that it is exponential
