Answer:

kinetic energy is an energy which a body possessed by virtue of being in motion.

If an object of mass m is moving with a velocity v,then it's kinetic energy Ek is given by the expression,Ek=1/2mv^2.

The S.I unit of kinetic energy is joules(j).

Explanation:-

Kinetic energy → The energy possess by a body due to its motion is called kinetic energy.

Kinetic energy is directly proportional to the mass of the body and the square of its velocity .

Let m be the mass of the object and v be it's final velocity.

Then , the expression of kinetic energy is given by :-

 \huge \boxed{K_e = \dfrac{1}{2}mv^2}

  • SI unit of kinetic energy is same as energy that is joule.

If the velocity of the body gets doubled its kinetic energy is increased by four times.

Some extra info :-

The rate of change of kinetic energy is equal to the work done by an object .

That's is

 W = \dfrac{1}{2} m (v^2 - u^2 )
