Hi,
_____________________________

Latent Heat Of Fusion:

The amount of energy required to change the state of a 1 kg solid substance from solid state to liquid state without any change in its temperature is called latent heat of fusion. The temperature remains fixed at melting point.

Latent means hidden, and it is called so because this energy produces no change in temperature and goes almost undetectable.

hii...

latent heat of fusion - it is the amount of heat reqouired to convert 1kg of solid to liquid at its melting point in a given temperature.

It is called latent heat of fusion becoz
latent means hidden. At 0 degree when ice melts the temperature of the system does not change even if heat is continuously supplied. this heat is used up in overcoming the force of attraction between the particles of matter resulting in conversion of ice into water. as this heat is absorbed by the ice without showing any change in its temperature the heat is considered hidden in the system and is known as latent heat.

hope this solution helps uh !
