Sound loudness is a subjective term describing the strength of the ear's perception of a sound. It is intimately related to soundintensity but can by no means be considered identical to intensity. ... This is one of the motivations for using the decibel scale to measure sound intensity.

Loudness is a property by virtue of which a loud sound can be distinguished from faint one would having the same pitch. It is measured in decimal .this is scale is named after Alexander Graham Bell if we strike a drum softly its skin vibrate and which produces a soft sound well if we strike it hard its skin vibrate with a greater amplitude and division are louder sound .This so that the greater amplitude the louder is the sound .
loudness of sound is directly proportional to the square of the amplitude of the vibration producing the sound .
