Answer:

Luminous and Non Luminous Objects. Light is a form of energy emitted by bodies under certain conditions. A luminous body is one that emits its own light example- sun. Non luminous bodies are objects that reflect light from luminous bodies.

Luminous things:

Luminous objects are responsible for our vision.

In complete darkness we cannot see/distinguish the different objects around us.

Human eye perceives the light reflecting from different objects to cause the sensation of vision.

In order to reflect (bounce back, come back) from different objects, we must make the light to fall on the objects.

Light is generated/emitted/produced/comes from only luminous objects. Thus luminous objects are responsible for our vision.

Example - Example: Lighted candle, torch bulb, the sun and stars.

In order to emit light, the object must have its own source of energy. A torch shines because of the chemical energy stored in its batteries, whereas all stars shine using energy created by nuclear fusion

Sun also emits light as a result of fusion of Hydrogen atoms. Hence they are considered as Luminous objects.

Non luminous things:

A non - luminous object is an object that does not emmit visible light ( as opposed to reflecting visible light. If you took an object into a truely dark room - or better deep underground where there is no light. You would be able to see a luminous object like a candle flame, a red hot piece of iron, a white hot filament of a bulb.

In front of me I have mug of tea. It is not luminous, if I put it down in a dark room then I would be very hard to find (by feeling for it). By comparison, a lit candle should be quite easy to find.
