A bar of finite length separating the two magnetic poles is known as a bar magnet.

The magnetic field is spreaded all around the magnet and it is shown by the magnetic field lines.

Magnetic field lines comes out from the north pole side of the magnet .

The properties of barmanget are

1) A bar magnet possessive directive property. It stays always towards North and South.

2) If a bar magnet is cut transfers to its length, then the magnetic moment of each piece reduces because the length of dipole reduces.

3) If a bar magnet is cut lengthwise then magnetic moment reduces because its pole strength reduces.

4) The Magnetic Strength of a magnet reduces with the increase in temperature.

5) Magnetic poles of a bar magnet can never be separated.
