The mass of a body is the quantity of matter contained in it. The S.I. unit of mass is kilogram. In short form, it is written as kg. In C.GS. system, the unit of mass is gram, (symbol g). In F.P.S. system, the unit of mass is pound (symbol lb)

Who discovered mass?

Newton's books on universal gravitation were published in the 1680s, but the first successful measurement of the Earth's mass in terms of traditional mass units, the Cavendish experiment, did not occur until 1797, over a hundred years later.
