Matter - Anything that occupies space and has mass is called matter.

Example - Iron, air, table, pen, chair, fan, ice cube etc.

States of matter -

Solid → Liquid → Gas.

Solid -

  • Solid have fixed shape as well as fixed volume.
  • The inter particles forces of attraction are strongest in solids.
  • Solids do not flow.

Liquid -

  • Liquid have a fixed volume but do not have fixed shape.
  • Liquids can not be compressed much.
  • The inter particle forces of attraction in liquid are weaker than solids.

Gas -

  • Gas do not have fixed shape and fixed volume.
  • Gases can be easily compressible.
  • Gases flow more easily than liquid state.
