Membrane biogenesis:

We know that the Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum(RER) produces protein and the Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum(SER) produces lipids.
The proteins and the lipids combine to form a new plasma membrane.
This process is called membrane biogenesis.
