Functions of mitochondria:

  1. Different enzymes present in mitochondria helps to run the Kreb's cycle and the terminal respiration during the respiration process.
  2. Due to oxidation taking place through Kreb's cycle a high energy compound, ATP is produced. So it is also called power house of the cell.
  3. Here, protein is also synthesized.
  4. Oxysomes helps in oxidation of Pyrobic acid during Kreb's cycle.
