Mitotic cell division enables sexually reproducing organisms to develop from the one-celled zygote, which itself was produced by meiotic cell division from gametes. After growth, cell division by mitosis allows for continual construction and repair of the organism. The human body experiences about 10 quadrillion cell divisions in a lifetime.[

The primary concern of cell division is the maintenance of the original cell's genome. Before division can occur, the genomic information that is stored in chromosomes must be replicated, and the duplicated genome must be separated cleanly between cells. A great deal of cellular infrastructure is involved in keeping genomic information consistent between generations.

Mitosis:
-type of cell division
-occurs whenever more cells are required
-takes place in eukaryotic cells
-it is important for an individual's health and wellbeing

Meiosis
-used in the production of gametes
-makes sperms and eggs with exactly half the number of chromosomes as the starting cell.
-it is essential in sexual reproduction

when a cell divides by the way of mitosis it produces two clones of itself, each with the same number of chromosomes.
When a cell divides by the way of meiosis it produces four cells called gametes.
Unlike mitosis, the gametes produced by meiosis are haploid and nit clones of the original cell, because each gamete has half as many as chromosomes as the original cell..

Hope it helps and best of luck... :)
