Answer:

Modulation is defined as the process of varying one or more properties of a periodic waveform.

there are basically 3 types of modulation,

1. Amplitude Modulation(A.M)

2. Frequency modulation (F.M.)

3. Phase Modulation(P.M)

In modulation we modulate a carrier signal with a modulating signal.

This modulating signal is nothing but the information one want to sent during Telecommunication.

Need:

It is tough and costly to transmit the many frequency signals at a single time so these fine information are packed in the

envelope of carrier wave and in turn we become able to send a frequency−band range.

Like we transmit fine sound using FM on radio waves called FM or frequency modulation.

Modulating signal can be accessed with relatively smaller antenna because in order to receive a wave the antenna must be atleast 10th of the wavelegth.

Carrier frequency have small wavelength
