Define molarity. Calculate the molarity of NaOH in the solution prepared by dissolving its 4g in enough water to form 500 ml of the solution.

Explanation:

molarity = number moles of solute / volume of solution(in litres)

molecular weight of NaOH =40

number moles of NaOH = 4/40=0.1 moles

volume of solution in litres = 500/1000 L = 0.5 L

Molarity = 0.1/0.5=1/5=0.2M
