The amount of substance is simply defined as a mole.

In scientific terms ,

A mole can be defined as the amount of substance of a system, which contains as many elimentary entities as there are in 12 g of a c-12 atom.

Sometimes this word can also be used to represent a number like million .

Hope it helps!!!
