Explanation:

Moment of Inertia Units

Following are the two types of moment of inertia with their formula:

Area moment of inertia: mm4 or in4

Mass moment of inertia: kg.m2 or ft.lb.s2

Dimensional Formula: M1L2T0

What is the SI Unit of Moment of Inertia?

The SI unit of moment of inertia is: kg.m2

Example of Moment of Inertia

Consider a wheel and a uniform disc, both having the same mass rotating about the same axis. If you may have observed, it is difficult to start or stop the wheel than it is to start or stop the uniform disc.

hey mate here your answer

Moment of inertia:

a quantity expressing a body's tendency to resist angular acceleration, which is the sum of the products of the mass of each particle in the body with the square of its distance from the axis of rotation.Torque in rotational motion plays the same role as force in linear motion. Its SI unit is kg. metre2.

parallel axis theorem:

The moment of inertia of a body about an axis parallel to the body passing through its center is equal to the sum of moment of inertia of body about the axis passing through the center and product of mass of the body times the square of distance between the two axes.
