Here's your answer-

Study with help of given diagram in attachment....

Electric motor :-

• Electric motor :- A device which convert electrical energy into mechanical energy is called electric motor.

• Principle :- Electric motor is work on the principle of current carrying conductor place in magnetic field.

• Construction of electric motor :- The rectangular loop of copper wire having coating is places between the north pole and South Pole of magnet in such a way that its branches AB and CD perpendicular to the direction of magnetic field. The two halves of split ring x and y are connected to outer side by two carbon brushes E and F respectively.

• Working of electric motor :- When the electric current flow in the branch AB, of the loop from A to B , since the direction of magnetic field is from north pole to South Pole. According to Fleming's left hand rul, force exerts on the branch AB and pushes it down. The current in CD branches is in opposite direction to that in the AB branch and therefore, force is exerts on the branch CD in the upper direction. Thus, the loop and excel rotating anticlockwise direction.

After half rotation, the two half of split ring X and Y come in contact with carbon brushes F and E respectively nd the current in loop starts flowing in the directions DCBA. Therefore, a force is exerted on the branch and DC in downward direction and on the branch BA in upper direction. Thus, the loop continue rotate in anticlockwise direction in electrical energy convert into mechanical energy.
