MITOSIS

  1. it occurs in all cells
  2. in the resultant daughter cell , the number of chromosomes remain same (diploid) hence called equational division
  3. by mitosis two daughter cells are produced
  4. no crossing over take place

MEIOSIS

  1. it occurs in reproductive cells / germ cell.
  2. in resultant daughter , the number of chromosomes reduced to half(haploid),hence called reductional division.
  3. four daughter cells are produced.
  4. crossing over take place
