Natural vegetation refers to the plant life that grows naturally in a geographical region. It varies from place to place and is dependent upon factors like temperature and moisture. It exists in the biosphere or the zone of contact between the lithosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere. The plants that make up natural vegetation are valuable resources as they provide timber, fruits, medicinal plants, shelter to animals, oxygen and protect soil and store water. Thus, they are an important component of ecosystem. The major vegetation types are forests, grasslands, scrubs and tundra.
