Newton's First Law states that an object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless acted upon by an external force. It may be seen as a statement about inertia, that objects will remain in their state of motion unless a force acts to change the motion. Any change in motion involves an acceleration,

newton's 1st law of motion: this law states that an object at rest will remain at rest and an object in uniform motion will remain in motion unless and until it is compelled by an external force.
explanation : according to this law a body which is in uniform motion will remain in uniform motion unless we apply an external unbalanced. and an object in rest will remain to be in rest unless an external unbalanced is applied to make the body move.
this law is also known as law of inertia.( since it remains to be in it's state of rest or uniform motion)
