Breathing is the act of sending out carbon-dioxide and taking in oxygen in and out of the lungs .There are two types of breathing i.e normal breathing and forceful expiration.
Info on Normal breathing:-
- It is a passive process.
- It is also known as abdominal breathing.
- It involves mainly the diaphragm muscles.
Info on Forceful expiration:-
- It is an active process.
- It involves contraction of the abdominal muscles and also internal intercoastal muscles.
- Both these actions contribute to a decreased thoracic volume and thus increasing intra pulmonary pressure.
- It is also called as Thoracic breathing.
- In forceful expiration, air move out quicker than in normal expiration.

Answer:
The processes of inspiration (breathing in) and expiration (breathing out) are vital for providing oxygen to tissues and removing carbon dioxide from the body. Inspiration occurs via active contraction of muscles – such as the diaphragm – whereas expiration tends to be passive, unless it is forced.
