Nuclear energy is the electromagnetic energy released when a nucleus is split into two parts. The resulting nuclei total mass is slightly less than the original nucleus. Thus, the lost mass is particles and energy.

Some examples of this energy are nuclear fission (standard atomic bombs and nuclear reactors) and nuclear fusion (the stars, some experimental reactors and fusors)
