Answer :-

A "Nucleus" can be generally defined as the controlling authority of the cell.

It acts as a site for the storage of chromatin which later condensed to form chromosomes during the process of cell division.

Extra Information :-

  • The nucleus was discovered by "Hammerling".

  • Normally, only one nucleus is found in a cell but the body of a "Paramoecium" contains two nuclei.

  • In some cases, Multi-nucleated structures are found in bone marrow cells.
