Before defining one dioptre lemme add few more important points :

  • The deviation of the incident rays produced by a lens on refraction through it is called is called measure of its power.
  • Its unit is dioptre symbolised by D.
  • Power (in D ) = 1 / focal length(in m)

One dioptre is said to be the power of a lens which has a focal length of 1 m or 100 cm.

Thats the definition........ merry christmas and and happy new year in advance.......

Hope it helps you:-)
