When 1 Joule of work is done to move a charge of amount 1 Coulomb from one place to another, then it is said that the potential difference between the two points is 1 Volt(V).

1V = 1J/C

One volt is equal to current of 1 amp times resistance of 1 ohm: 1V = 1A ⋅ 1Ω

Potential difference across two points in a conductor is 1 volt when a current of 1 ampere flows through the conductor of resistance of 1 ohm
