Explanation:

See first comes the shells then the subshells then the orbitals

There are four orbitals

S, P, D, F

In s orbital maximum 2 electrons can be filled

In p orbital maximum 6 electrons caj he filled

In d orbital maximum 10 electrons can be filled

In f electron maximum 12 i think electron will be filled

Shell and orbitals are inter related because the shell tells about the size of electron and orbital tells the shells in which electron are filled

Answer:

basically the the concept of orbital originated when the hydrogen spectrum was observed to have very fine lines inside line....which indicates that when electrons jump from one shell to another then....what could fines lines possibly mean?

it means electrons doesn't only orbit in shells....there are more possible orbit in shells....which whose essentricity varies.....they were given term orbitals.....

this was the main concept that I didn't understood in my 11th class.....rest s,p,d,f is very obvious and clear.
