Osmosis is the movement of water from higher to the lower concentration.

  • Osmosis is responsible for the absorption of water from the soil in plants.
  • It maintains the turgidity of cells.
  • By the process of osmosis - water and nutrients moves in and out of the cell.

There are two types of osmosis :-

  • Endosmosis : The movement of water molecules inside the cell is known as Endosmosis.
  • Exosmosis : The movement of water molecules outside the cell is known as Exosmosis.
