Osmosis is the movement of free water molecules across a semi-permeable membrane, down a concentration gradient.
1)when we keep a cell in a region of higher concentration(hypertonic solution), it swells up and finally bursts.
2)when we keep a cell in a region of lower concentration (hypotonic solution), it gets shrink.
