Overgrazing is when plants are fed upon by animals for a long period of time with out a time of pause to re-grow.
Causes can be too many animals in a small area.
The plants will not be able grow, therefore species of plant in that area will be eliminated. There are plants with 'basal meristems' (their points of growth are out of the animals reach) so these will Take over the field. E.g. Weeds would take over when the grass cannot grow from overgrazing

Overgrazing occurs when plants are exposed to intensive grazing for extended periods of time, or without sufficient recovery periods. It can be caused by either livestock in poorly managed agricultural applications, game reserves, or nature reserves.
