In an oxidation-reduction, or redox, reaction, one atom or compound will steal electrons from another atom or compound. A classic example of a redox reaction is rusting. When rusting happens, oxygen steals electrons from iron. Oxygen gets reduced while iron gets oxidized ..........

HIII...
GOOD MORNING:-)
HERE IS YOUR ANSWER:--------
THE ADDITION OF OXYGEN TO A SUBSTANCE IS CALLED OXIDATION AND ALSO THE REMOVAL OF HYDROGEN FROM A SUBSTANCE IS ALSO CALLED OXIDATION.
EX.= CuO +H2------> Cu + H2O
IN THIS REACTION Cu IS CHANGING INTO CU.THAT IS OXYGEN BEING REMOVED FROM COPPER OXIDE.NOW,BY DEFINITION, REMOVAL OF OXYGEN FROM A SUBSTANCE IS CALLED REDUCTION SO WE CAN SAY THAT COPPER OXIDE IS BEING REDUCED TO COPPER.
HOPE THIS HELPS YOU.....
HAVE A GREAT DAY AHEAD....✌
