A Cartesian equation is an equation in terms of x and y only. We do this by rearranging one of the equations for x or y, to make the subject, and then substituting this into the other equation.

p = r

= \sqrt{x^{2} }+{r}^{2} = r

Squaring both sides we will get

= x² + y² = r
