A passive voice construction is a grammatical voice construction that is found in many languages. In a clause with passive voice, the grammatical subject expresses the theme or patient of the main verb – that is, the person or thing that undergoes the action or has its state changed

Passive Voice

☛ A verb is in the passive voice when the subject of the sentence is acted on by the verb.

To identify passive voice

Look at what happened and look at who was responsible for doing it.

If the person or thing responsible for doing the actions is either omitted or occurs in the sentence AFTER the thing that happened, AND if you see a past participle straight after the form of “to be,” it's passive voice..

For example :-

1. “The ball was thrown by the pitcher”

The ball (the subject) receives the action of the verb, and was thrown is in the passive voice.
