define PH of a solution?
Answers
Answer:
hey mate....
pH is a measure of hydrogen ion concentration, a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. The pH scale usually ranges from 0 to 14. Aqueous solutions at 25°C with a pH less than 7 are acidic, while those with a pH greater than 7 are basic or alkaline
hope it helps
Answer:
In German, it means 'potential hydrogenii', I.e the power of of hydrogen ions. Since the hydrogen ion of a solution determines its acidity, therefore, to determine this concentration pH scale is used. This scale runs between 0 which represents a very alkaline solution while 7 is the neutral point. The scale was defined by Sorensen in 1909. According to him, 'pH is the negative logarithm (base 10) of the hydrogen ion concentration in molecules per litre'.
