Photosynthesis : the process by which plants prepare their own food by using carbon dioxide and water in the presence of sunlight and chlorophyll .

Extra information:

It is an anabolic process by which the chlorophyll containing green plants manufacture food ( i.e., glucose) using carbon dioxide and water , in the presence of sunlight. Oxygen is given out as a by product.

Equation :

6CO2 + 12H2O in the presence of Sunlight and chlorophyll gives C6H12O6 + 6O2 + 6H2O

6CO2 - Carbon dioxide.

12H2O - Water.

C6H12O6 - Glucose.

6O2 - Oxygen
