Answer:

Photosynthesis in plants generally involves the green pigment chlorophyll and generates oxygen as a by-product. An oxidizing agent causes oxidation and is reduced in the reaction. A reducing agent causes the reduction in the redox reaction..

Dear Student,

◆ Photosynthesis -

  • It is a process used by plants and other organisms to convert light energy into chemical energy.
  • In photosynthesis plants take CO2 & water, convert it into glucose & O2 in presence of sunlight.

CO2 + H2O → C6H12O6 + O2

● Photosynthesis is called redox reaction -

  • In photosynthetic reaction, CO2 accepts electrons and H2O donates electrons.
  • Here, CO2 is reduced to glucose and H2O is oxidised to oxygen.
  • As both reduction and oxidation takes place here, photosynthesis is termed as redox reaction.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you..
