Answer:
Lower chordates are frequently referred to as protochordate. These animals are also known as Acraniata since they lack a head and a skull or cranium.
Concerning the notochord's property Protochordates are divided into three subphyla, as follows.
- Urochordata
- Cephalochordata
- Hemicordarata
Explanation:
"Phylogeny is the study of the evolutionary development of groupings of organisms,"
Urochordata
- The notochord is only present in the tail of the larva (hence the term urochordates), and it vanishes in the adult. Examples: Doliolum, Herdmania, Salpa
- They are filter–feeders that live in the sea and are generally sessile.
- The body is protected by a leathery test or tunic sheath made of tunicin (cellulose), which is known as tunicates.
Cephalochordata:
- These are likewise filter-feeders with a marine diet.
- The notochord can be found all the way up to the cephalic (head) region and lasts for the rest of one's life.
- The nerve chord lasts for the rest of one's life, but no brain develops.
Hemicordarata:
- Hemichordates are all marine creatures.
- The body is robust and unsegmented, with a wormlike or vaselike appearance.
- There are three separate regions: proboscis, collar, and trunk.
