Plasmolysis is the process of water leaving plant cells, allowing the cytoplasm and plasma membrane to shrink away from the cell wall. This causes plants to wilt. In deplasmolysis, water from the outside environment rushes into the cell through a process called osmosis, which creates turgor pressure.

Plasmolysis is a vital process concerned with living cells, in which water diffuses out of the cell as a result of exosmosis. This causes protoplasm to contract away from the cell wall and the cell gets shrunken.

In Deplasmolysis, a dehydrated cell absorbs water as a result of endosmosis. This causes the cell to swell up.
