Plasmolysis :

The process where the cell loose water in a hypertonic solution is called as plasmolysis.

➼ The opposite process of plasmolysis is cytolysis.

➼ It does not takes place in the dead cells.

➼ It demonstrates the permeability of the cell.

➼ Osmosis is responsible for the plasmolysis.

➼ Plant cells which are full of water are said to be turgid cells.

➼ When a cell is placed in a hypertonic solution, there are higher concentration of solutes outside the cell, so water flows in and our of the cell and balance the concentration on both sides of membrane.

➼ There are two types of plasmolysis : Convex plasmolysis and concave plasmolysis.

Answer:

☞Plasmolysis:-

➪ Plasmolysis is the detachment of cell membrane of the plant cell from the cell wall when put in Hypertonic Solution

➪ Plasmo– A combining form of representing plasma or cytoplasm

➪ Lysis– Ruputure of something or break.

➪ When plant cell is surrounded by hypertonic solution the water is lost from cytoplasm and then from the cell wall.

➪ When a plasmolysed cell is placed in a hypotonic solution, the cell restores it's turgidity→ Deplasmolysis
